Shoreline Master Program Update

 EXISTING SHORELINE MASTER PROGRAM

The City of Port Orchard will be updating its Shoreline Master Program (SMP), in accordance with Washington State Law and RCW.  The City of Port Orchard Planning Department, in partnership with the Washington State Department of Ecology, will be the primary agency responsible for development and implementation of the Shoreline Master Program.  The entire process will be supervised and overseen by the Washington State Department of Ecology, which will be ensuring City staff provides a document that is in compliance with the goals and policies of the Washington State Shoreline Management Act.

The Port Orchard Shoreline Master Program will regulate development activities within 200 feet of the City’s Puget Sound waterfront.  Blackjack Creek has been determined as a shoreline of the State and development activities are also regulated within 200 feet as well, from the mouth at Sinclair Inlet to State Route 16.
