Being a waterfront city provides citizens and visitors access to one of the greatest inland waterways in the United States! Our maritime heritage is all around us with boating aplenty!
Needless to say, our patriotism swells as the majestic submarines, super carriers and other stout vessels of our great United States Navy amble past our doorsteps on their way to and from the nearby Puget Sound Naval Shipyards! Pleasure boaters flock to our marina for fun and special events such as the annual gathering of Chris-Craft, which display some of the most beautiful wood boats afloat today!
Want to talk about dining? Hey, we're not just about the fresh seafood! Small town comforts give way to some elegant dining experiences for all tastes. Or maybe you have simpler tastes for you and your family. Whatever it is, we have you covered!
Stroll though downtown shops next to the waterfront to find that special treasure for you or your loved ones, while savoring our small town flavor and comforts.
Got nature in your blood? How about fishing? Wow! With so much water about, you can bet salmon abound! Crabbing season offers the famous Dungeness crab Puget Sound is well known for. Not enough? Well, that's just the beginning of the outdoors lifestyle offered here! Tourism Committee Overview:
The City of Port Orchard works with community leaders to promote tourism and economic development for the City of Port Orchard and the South Kitsap community.
The Council created a Tourism Committee, comprised of three Councilmembers to oversee this aspect through general tourism and economic development, Hotel/Motel Lodging Tax, and Festival of Chimes and Lights. The committee makes recommendations to the full Council on issues that may impact economic development and tourism.
