FULL-TIME PUBLIC WORKS POSITION

The City of Port Orchard is accepting applications for a Full-Time Public Works position.   This position is covered by a labor agreement between the City of Port Orchard and the Teamsters Union, Local No. 589.  Demonstrated knowledge of the methods, procedures and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of public works improvements.  Skilled operation of a variety of light and heavy equipment, including vac trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, graders, manual and power hand tools, welding equipment, and other tools and equipment appropriate to a given duty responsibility. Carpentry and flatwork desirable.

Salary Range is $22.75 – $30.71 per hour, plus benefits.

SUMMER WORKER

The City of Port Orchard is accepting applications for its summer Public Works employment. This is a temporary position for approximately 3 months – 40 hours per week.  Applicants need to be a high school graduate enrolled in College or at least 18 years of age, have a valid Washington State driver’s license, and capable of performing manual labor. The successful applicants will be subject to the City’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, which includes pre-employment testing for all city positions. The wage is $11.00 an hour. The City of Port Orchard is accepting applications for the position of Court Clerk. This is a part-time position 24 hours per week within the Municipal Court. Incumbent assigned to this position performs clerical duties that include serving the public through face-to-face interaction, electronic communication, and/or telephone support, accurately maintain a record and filing system and process payments.

Starting Salary $19.61 an hour.

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT CLERK POSITION

The City of Port Orchard is accepting applications for a Full-Time Public Works Permit Clerk.   This position requires a working knowledge and understanding of codes, regulations and guidelines pertaining to permits reviewed and issued by the Public Works Department in order to provide the appropriate clerical and administrative support and other general assistance to the Permit Center. The incumbent receives public works applications and determines counter complete submittal; utilizes the Permit Center’s permit tracking software to enter permit application, fees and process records; manages public works permit files using established procedures and records retention schedules; provides records in response to public records requests. The position provides receptionist support including answering multi-line phone system and responding to front counter visits; clerical support and other general assistance to the Permit Center.

Starting wage is $20.93 per hour, plus benefits.
