Festival of Chimes and Lights
The 2020 Festival of Chimes and Lights“Lights of Joy & Rocks of Cheer”
We are saddened to share, due to the current pandemic and the Governor's order, many of the Festival of Chimes and Lights events will not be moving forward this year. Canceled events include all downtown gatherings , so photos with Santa, the lighted boat contest, choir performances, the tree lighting ceremony, the South Kitsap High School marching band performance and the pet parade/costume contest will not be held.
However, we are delighted to report that the Decorated Tree Contest, as well as an abundance of holiday lights and displays will grace the entire downtown area to make all “merry and bright!” And, while the lighted boat contest will not be open to the public, don’t be surprised to see many festive boats adorning our waterfront.
The City Hall Christmas Tree will be lit up starting the day of the festival, but without the usual ceremony. As for the “Lights of Joy,” we are encouraging neighbors and whole neighborhoods to add an extra string or two of lights to light up our entire town during this holiday season. In fact, please send us a photo of your decorated house or neighborhood to post on our website!
And there is a brand new event meant to show small acts of kindness during this unusual time involving rock painting; check it out here!
Jolly Jingle Virtual
We are pleased to announce there is a virtual run scheduled for this year!
Registration began on October 12th.
Runners, if registered, may :
- run their 5K anytime on December 5th or 6th
-upload their results to the website
-receive a facemask from the South Kitsap Helpline
