Application Process

Standard application forms and resumes are required to apply for all positions at the City of Port Orchard.  Additionally, specific supplemental information is generally required and must be submitted along with the standard application form. Each job announcement has its own application packet which will include the job announcement, the standard application form, job description, any applicable required supplements. and forms to begin the background check process if you’re selected to go on in the process.

APPLICATION SHOULD ONLY BE COMPLETED IF THERE IS AN OPENING. The application can be filled out online but must be printed, signed and dated; then delivered by mail or in person to the Human Resources Department.  The City will accept faxed and/or email copies by the deadline but the original must be delivered to Human Resources.

Reasonable Accommodation

If requested, the City of Port Orchard will provide reasonable accommodation for persons with disabilities during the selection process or to perform the work once hired. Please notify the Human Resources Department at (360) 876-7014 of the accommodation needed, preferable at the time of application, but at least ten (10) days prior to the date needed. Requests should be done by letter or other appropriate format.

Pre-Employment & Background Checks

A contingent offer of employment may be made that is subject to a satisfactory background check and pre-employment drug test before beginning work for the City of Port Orchard.

Notification of Selection Process

Once a position has closed, all applicants will be notified if they are or are not invited to continue in the selection process. If you have not received notification of your status, please contact Human Resources at (360) 876-7014
