Permit Clerk-Community Development Department
Part-time (28 hours per week), Non-union position Starting pay: $22.16 per hour

This position primarily performs skilled clerical duties and provides basic administrative support necessary to the efficient operations of the department’s Permit Center. The role focuses on Land Use and Zoning permit processing. Receives land use and zoning applications and determines counter complete submittal; enters application data and process records in the department’s permit tracking software program; maintains well organized planning permit files using established procedures and records retention schedules. The ideal candidate is conscientious and detail oriented, focuses on job responsibilities, and provided efficient, effective and enthusiastic clerical and administrative support. High school graduation (or GED) and three years office experience is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat as well as excellent oral and written communication skills required. Experience in a comparable position in government agency and use of SMARTGov or other permitting database program is desired. Any combination of experience and training that provides the desired skills and abilities may be considered.

Benefits for part-time employees: Employees working less than 30 hours a week may enroll on the City’s health insurance by paying 50% of the cost of the employee’s medical insurance premium and may enroll dependents by paying 100% of the cost of spouse and dependent insurance. The City does not provide any other insurance benefits to part-time employees. Part-time employees receive pro-rated paid sick, vacation and holiday leave. This position qualifies for enrollment in the Washington state retirement system.
