PORT ORCHARD, WA – Commercial logging activity is to commence on property near the Glenwood Fire Station in the next few weeks, under a Class 3 Forest Practices Permit which was issued by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The City of Port Orchard cannot prevent DNR from issuing this type of permit, but the property is automatically subject to a six-year development moratorium from the date of logging. The property is not owned by McCormick Communities, and the logging is unrelated to the pending development permits currently under review by the City of Port Orchard.
Questions regarding this notice should be directed to Community Development Director Nick Bond at the City of Port Orchard, 360-874-5533.
Questions relating to the Class 3 Forest Practices Permit should be directed to the South Puget Sound Region of DNR at 360-825-1631 or [email protected].
